Everyone knows that drinking enough water is vital to overall health, but most people do not get enough water in the day for their bodies to function efficiently and optimally. I’m going to tell you 7 easy ways to drink more water during the day.

Water is the fluid that lubricates our systems and keeps us healthy and vibrant. We NEED water to survive. Without enough water in our system, we can start to feel tired, irritable and sick.

So, are you drinking enough water?

How to Recognize dehydration

The first side effects of dehydration are dry mouth and thirst.

Moderate to severe dehydration symptoms:

  • Low energy, fatigue, loss of muscle strength and endurance
  • Hunger (oftentimes can mean you are just really thirsty)
  • Headaches
  • Decrease in memory and brain function
  • Decrease or no output of urine or urine that is dark, strong smelling or burning
  • Low blood pressure
  • Tachycardia or rapid heart rate

How to increase daily water consumption:

1. Drink 1 – 2 glasses of water first thing in the morning

2. Keep a pitcher filled with filtered water for you to drink throughout the day in your fridge at home or on your desk at work

3. Drink 8 oz of water before exercise

4. Sip small amounts of water from your water bottle during exercise

5. Keep water in your car, at the office, by your bed

6. Add slices of fresh lemon, orange, cucumber or strawberry to your water for a little more flavor!

7. Replace pop (or other sugary drinks) with flavored sparkling water if you enjoy the carbonation of pop

Notice how you feel after a week of drinking more water! This will keep you more motivated to keep drinking enough water because you will feel so much better!

To your health!
