Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks and that is just a form of gratitude!

Being grateful is more than just saying “thank you”.  It’s about focusing on what’s good in our lives and being thankful for the things we have.

Watch Dr. Rob explain how gratitude could be the key to living happier:

When you’re feeling gratitude it’s hard to feel negative emotions like  anger, fear, or jealousy because you’re focusing on positive aspects of your life. Many studies over the past decade have found that people who consciously count their blessings tend to be happier and less depressed.

Focus on being grateful and happy every day. Your brain is going to get better at what you ask it to do, if you look for happiness and things to be grateful for in your life your brain gets better at finding those things. Gratitude and mindfulness truly is a practice! The more you do it the easier it becomes.

There are also a number of science backed health benefits to practicing gratitude!

These include:

  • increased happiness and positive mood
  • more satisfaction with life
  • less materialistic
  • less likely to experience burnout
  • better physical health
  • better sleep
  • less fatigue
  • lower levels of cellular inflammation
  • greater resiliency
  • encourages the development of patience, humility, and wisdom

We challenge you to write down 3 things you’re grateful for or that make you happy every day! Much of our time and energy is spent pursuing things we currently don’t have. Gratitude reverses our priorities to help us appreciate the people and things we do.

    I'm grateful for Dr Rob-- knowledge and expertise. I'm grateful for email tips every Thursday --That's how I know what day it is!!! I'm grateful that Rob jumped in the cold lake and not me!

    I love this tip. I have been keeping a gratitude journal for about a year -- writing down at least three things I'm grateful for, every night, before I go to bed. It makes a real difference. And I loved the video! I think this was the best ever, Rob. Thanks for always keeping it positive.
