Holiday Workout: No Gym, No Equipment, No Excuses!

Moving your body, even if it’s only for a few minutes, is one of the most important things you can do for yourself every day.

When things get busy, especially around the holidays, working out tends to get pushed aside for holiday parties, last minute shopping, and traveling for family functions.

We’ve got a solution for you! A quick, easy, no excuses, full body workout you can do anywhere, in only 7 minutes!

This is a great workout to add in when you don’t have time to make it to the gym, or when you can’t dedicate a large chunk of time to working out.

If you can spare 10 minutes you can squeeze in this workout!

You want to do each of these exercises for 30 seconds, so queue up your stop watch and get to it! The goal is to do as many as you can in the 30 seconds:

1. Jumping Jacks

2. Wall Sits

3. Push-ups

4. Plank

5. Box/Air Squats

6. High Knees

7. Push-ups

8. Plank

9. Reverse Lunges

10. Push-ups with T rotation

11. Side Plank Left

12. Side Plank Right

DONE! Just like that you’re done a full body workout.

Not every ‘good’ workout has to be a marathon sweat session. Workouts like this one are a great way to ease into fitness or as a good add on to your current fitness routine when you’re busy.

Here are 4 more ways to sneak in activity even when you’re busy!

1. Do Your Chores
Cleaning, laundry, and other household chores count as physical activity and anyone who has scrubbed a floor will tell you that you will definitely break a sweat! If a deep clean is on your to-list for the holidays then count it as a workout! Even moving boxes of decorations out of storage can count as heavy lifting.

2. Multi-task!
Walking is one of the best and easiest ways to get exercise. Catch up on TV shows, podcasts, or phone calls while walking to knock something off your to-do list. You can even invite a friend and turn your exercise into a social affair!

3. Walk when you can
Need something from the store? If you’re within walking distance trade your car for a pair of good walking shoes. You might have to carry some bags for a longer distance but that just adds weight to your workout!

4. Workout at Work!
You can buy some exercise tubing or weights to keep at your desk to workout in a pinch. Crank out a few reps every hour to boost your fitness AND boost your productivity!
