This Mid Back Relief Stretch Improves Posture & Feels AMAZING

If we could give you ONE stretch to do at home, this one would be at the top of our list. It feels amazing and can help relieve all sorts of discomfort and pain as well as improve your mobility.

The Open Book Stretch

  • Lay on your side with your knees bent up toward your chest.
  • Hold your knees down with your bottom hand
  • Extend your top hand in front of you
  • Slowly rotate your arm and upper body so your hand reaches toward the ground behind you like you’re opening a giant book.
  • In this position take a deep breath in, then all the way out.
  • Repeat a few times and switch sides.


You’re going to feel a great stretch in your back, chest, and arms. The goal is to get your top shoulder all the way to the ground! It feels so great because you’re moving and stretching a ton of tight muscles that don’t get stretched or lengthened throughout the day. 


Doing a few reps of the open book stretch each day as relief or as mobility before an upper body workout is going to help you use and maintain a full range of motion.
