Workout at Home: How to Make Time for Exercise

You know fitness is important for your health and well-being. But, sometimes our days are a blur of work, household chores, and trying to spend time with family and friends (virtually of course). Setting aside enough time to sleep — let alone exercise — can be tough.

This week Dr. Rob is going to show you how you can fit it all in AND get some quality family time in!

So how can you find time for fitness?

Put it on Your Calendar.

Scheduling physical activity like an appointment during the day can help you plan your day around your exercise. Appointments are too important to cancel!

Get the Family Involved.

Mixing fitness and family time like Dr. Rob is doing can help you spend more quality time together. Being active as a family can also instill lifelong healthy habits in your kids!

Become Part of a Team.

Joining exercise challenges as a family, with a group of friends, or strangers! There are lots of fitness challenges happening with everyone stuck at home, find one you like and get moving! We suggest joining our Virtual Fit Club where you’ll get workouts you can do at home with minimal equipment and access to a supportive fitness community! Check it out here to find out how you can get a 21 day free trial!

Break it Up.

If working out for an hour seems like a huge leap try breaking it up into smaller chunks throughout the day. Do 10 minutes of activity before you start your work for the day, between Netflix episodes, or before meals. It all adds up.

Take Fitness Breaks.

Right now a lot of us are lucky to have more flexibility in our schedules while we work from home. Instead of taking your coffee break in your kitchen, take it on a walk!

If you’re in pain and in need of emergency physiotherapy or chiropractic you can email info@pricehealth.ca to see if you qualify.

We also have virtual appointments available with your chiropractor or physiotherapist. You can book online here.

I am historically poor at fitting fitness into my schedule if it's not on the way to work, at lunch, or on the way home. Now that home IS work, I've finally come up with a way to incorporate it. I call it the Tea Workout :) Twice a day, AM & PM. While waiting for the kettle to boil, I do a set of squats, push-ups (on the stairs b/c i'm a weakling...), shoulder blade squeezes, and plank. While tea is timing, sets of raised bridges, dead bug, shoulder presses and bicept curls. Repeat in the PM. And I "commute" to work by biking or walking before and after I start the day. Finally, something that works!
